Mapping Symbol:  An

This is a level to gently sloping soil which is very similar to the Everett gravelly sandy loam but it has been disturbed and altered through urban development.  Areas are commonly rectangular in shape and range from 1 to 120 acres in size.

Typical Profile:

  • 0 to 8 inches from Surface - Dark brown gravelly or very gravelly sandy loam.

  • 8 to 60 Inches - Grayish brown and light olive brown very gravelly coarse sand.

Permeability:  Rapid

Rooting Depth:  60 inches +

Depth to Seasonal High Water Table:  None within a depth of 5 feet

Available Water Holding Capacity:  Low

Runoff Potential:  Slow

Erosion and Slippage Hazard:  High

Use and Management:  These soils have been used for urban purposed.  They are unsuitable for purposes involving water storage (i.e. pond construction) because of rapid permeabilities and they range in usefulness for other engineering and recreational purposes.
