Native Plants Grown at the
Wetland Plant Cooperative
The King Conservation District's Wetland Plant Cooperative has been in existence since the spring of 1997. The facility was established with a $55,000 King County Regional Water Quality Block Grant and continues to be funded by the King Conservation District and the Puget Sound Water Quality Action Team through the Washington Conservation Commission. The primary purpose of the Cooperative is to provide trees, shrubs and wetland plants to community groups, non-profit organizations and government agencies in King County for estuarine enhancement and stream and wetland restoration. Community groups and non-profit organizations that are limited in financial resources are encouraged to trade volunteer time at the facility for plant material. The nursery also functions as an environmental education site for King County schools.
