Summer 2008 Volunteer Opportunities
The King Conservation District invites you to participate in a variety of natural resource conservation projects where you will learn about restoring streams and wetlands, using native plants to restore native plant communities and engineering techniques to enhance fish and wildlife habitat. Garden of Goo
Wetland Plant Nursery: Native plants grown from locally collected seed are the corner stone of conservation and ecological restoration. Learn about growing native plants for stream and wetland restoration projects. Activities include starting plants from seed and cuttings, and transplanting and maintaining nursery stock. Events will occur at the King Conservation District Nursery facility in Renton from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Nurturing Nature
Totem Lake, Kirkland: Our stream and salmon habitat restoration program has many successful restoration projects that require ongoing maintenance and monitoring. Come and learn about our restoration best management techniques while weeding and replanting restored sites. Event will occur at the Totem Lake Wetland from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 9th.
Urban Forest Restoration
Longfellow Creek Legacy Trail, West Seattle: Join the District and teh Green Seattle Partnership to help restore habitat on Longfellow Creek in Sest Seattle. Longfellow Creek is one of only four salmon streams in Seattle. com join our ongoing efforts to replace invasive ivy and blackberry with native trees and shrubs. Event will occur at the Brandon Street entrance of the Longfellow Legacy Trail in West Seattle from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

May 17th, June 21st,
July 19th, and August 16th
