King Conservation District 2010 Special Assessment

On Monday, November 16, 2009 the Metropolitan King County Council approved the King Conservation District’s special assessment and accompanying interlocal agreement. After a lengthy process of stakeholder engagement – including 6 public hearings around the county and multiple meetings with the District’s advisory committee, the District is happy to have agreed to a 3 year assessment that will keep the District’s core programs intact.

King Conservation District VideoThe special assessment provides approximately $6 million annually to the District. This funding has been allocated to support good stewardship practices by private landowners through King CD education workshops and site-specific consulting, and for natural resource conservation projects in partnership with King County and its cities.

We would like to thank the advocates of the District who contacted their Council members and asked them to support the assessment, as well as those who showed up to testify in person. As soon as the documents are available, we'll have the MKCC resolution, interlocal agreement and the District's revised budget available online."
